What started as an inquiry into their own business practices, Beth Hobart and her team started this collaborative project to create a product that is given as a gift to their home buyers. Discontent with purchasing generic items from mass market stores to fill up a gift basket, they found a way to put their purchasing power to great work, through an ethical fashion company in Haiti. The result is the “Live Locally Love Globally” bag, their way to #dobusinessbetter.
Our third film for the nonprofit REBUILD globally focuses on the root causes of poverty in Haiti and how this organization is equipping individuals to overcome it. By creating education and job training programs, REBUILD has begun to build an educated workforce that is positively impacting the economy and the lives of so many families in Haiti.

In January 2017, the entire Macbeth Studio crew traveled to Haiti for a week, to document amazing growth that REBUILD Globally has made in the lives of its workers. With the launch of Deux Mains, their for-profit fashion brand, the level of craftsmanship, quality, professionalism and comfort has been exponentially improved. We were happy to debut this video at the Runway To Haiti fashion show in May of 2017. The event raised over $70,000 to bring a dignified living wage to more hard-working citizens of Haiti.
2016 had its ups and downs, for sure. But it was a really great year for Macbeth Studio's video department. We shot footage all over the country, from San Diego, CA to Brooklyn, NY, and from Pompano Beach, FL to Falmouth, MA, as well as all around our home in Central Florida. We shot for non-profits, one-man operations, and large corporations. We rode with the Breitling Jet Team and a hang-glider, went zip-lining and para-sailing. We also filmed artisans as they made letter-press cards and woodworked tables and hand-stitched leather wallets and sandals. Here's 90 seconds of our best images from the year.
SPX, a company that makes athletic training products, asked Macbeth Studio to create a mini-documentary of a day in the life of renowned hockey coach Paul Vincent.

Haiti is where Julie Colombino landed two weeks after the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010. After working with various relief agencies to provide basic, immediate solutions, she saw that what people really needed was dignified employment. So she set about creating a sustainable business model.

Macbeth Studio founder Jim Hobart and his wife Beth drove the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to San Francisco. Along the way they stopped many times to take in the picture-postcard views, and Jim flew his drone and captured the rocky coastline. Video-editor Morgan Walker took the footage and created this labor of love on her own time.
An outdoor picnic for up to 1,000 people, at a secret location, where you have to bring your own tables, chairs, silverware, and centerpieces. Oh, and you MUST dress all in white, head to toe. What could be more fun? Macbeth Studio was selected to cover Orlando's first Dîner en Blanc event (after signing an NDA promising not to give away the secret location), and we had a great time capturing the festivities and traditions. These include the napkin wave and the sparklers, plus a big dance party after the dinner is done. Good times!
Late in the summer of 2015, we met Canlin Frost of Canlin Handcrafted, who is a traditional furniture designer based in Winter Park. Over the next several months we documented his woodworking process, which includes using only handmade tools. We produced this short film that highlights the beauty of his craft and the philosophy behind it.

Macbeth Studio was invited out to Lake Nona Town Center for a sneak preview of "The Beacon," the large cylindrical structure on the corner of what may be the most interesting parking deck ever. Four projectors are synchronized to create wrap-around images on the white tiled surface, that move organically (and usually slowly). This is a time-lapse of several hours as the technical crew tested a wide range of designs and patterns throughout the evening.
For the past decade or so, Beth Hobart has been hosting a Christmas party. But not just any Christmas party... this one's for a group home, where developmentally-challenged adults live independently while under the supervision of Quest, Inc's staff. Together with a growing team of volunteers, Beth gathers the residents' wish-lists, solicits donations, purchases gifts, decorates the homes, provides a buffet dinner, and everyone has a wonderful time. This year we documented it so others could share in the holiday spirit.
Art Director Jarrod Glick invited Macbeth Studio to join them on an exclusive high-octane ride-along with the Breitling Jet Team, as they performed 4g maneuvers in formation at Pompano Beach airport.
