Lox Farms
Lox Farms is a ten acre organic micro farm located in Loxahatchee, Florida, just outside of West Palm Beach. It grew from the idea of creating a source for organic, seasonal produce in the local community and to educate those interested in sustainable farming. Currently growing about fifty different varieties of organic fruits and veggies, Lox Farms also practices ethical animal husbandry and is a home to sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits.
Benefits of small scale farming include fresher, higher quality produce, reduced food miles, increased biodiversity, richer soil due to crop rotation, and fewer pesticides and herbicides harming the soil and groundwater. Lox Farms is an archetype for the modern day farm. I spent my Do Good Day capturing photos and videos for Lox's social media. I also began collecting footage for a short documentary about the farm, which will help raise awareness about the growing need for this type of decentralized farming model.
