Macbeth Studio offers an exclusive film photography portrait experience. Spend an hour with us, in our studio or at a location of your choosing, and we’ll create a dozen portraits.
What to expect:
A film portrait session is different from a digital headshot session.
We slow down. We take our time.
With only 12 frames on a roll of film, every exposure counts. Our film cameras connect directly to our strobes, so we can ensure perfect exposure every time. We double-check all the settings, the focus, and you, our subject, before pressing the shutter.
There’s something to be said for the way photography was done for 125 years. On film. No instant gratification. No immediate feedback. It requires thinking, double-checking, being present. Methodically, intentionally.
We use medium-format cameras for our portrait work (Rolleiflex, Mamiya, Yashica), which make a negative measuring 2-1/4” square. This large negative captures lots of detail for printing.
Our film cameras are cleaned and calibrated regularly, so you can trust that our lenses will focus accurately, rendering the sharpest and cleanest images.
